Built in 1628, the beautiful castle of Mesen served many purposes. When it was sold to a religious order, it became a monastery and elite boarding school for girls (in 1752). In 1905 the castle got a big expansion with one remarkable wing with an impressive chapel. In 1952, the elite boarding school becomes a school for the whole community. Already in 1972 the castle got abandoned.
