Charbonnage d’Hensies-Pommeroeul (Belgium)

The coal mine opened in 1918 and produced a very good quality of coal. It was the last Levant mine to close in 1976.

    the company of hensies pommereuil had for pits of mines…the biggest one was the sartis ….with two pits ,a washing plant,an agglomerating plant,a power station,a private harbor,an a private electrified railroad…to transport coal and workers….the secondary coal mine was louis lambert….it was connected to the first one by two railroads networks….a narrow gauge railroad for decauville trucks coming from the pits and an normal one for workers and materials
